At NEXT we are proud to be member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower and proud to support you!
Some disabilities, conditions or chronic illnesses are not immediately obvious to others. By wearing The Sunflower Lanyard, this indicates to others that this person may have a condition or disability that is not always obvious and may need extra support, help or extra time.Â
We want everyone, including you, to feel comfortable and welcome when wearing the Sunflower Lanyard. No matter the disability whether it be visible or hidden, everyone is welcome at NEXT. Â
Whether you are a Sunflower supporter or a Sunflower wearer, we all make an impact at NEXT.Â
The Able community have introduced a Sunflower border for use on Google and Yapster to indicate that someone may need additional support when communicating.
This could include extra time to respond, the need for audio transcription, large print, or even visual aids. This is a great way to signal this to colleagues as soon as you start to communicate.Â
If you want to use this frame, reach out to the Able community to get yours.Â
As a disabled person, you can apply for a Sunflower car sticker/magnet for your vehicle to signal a non-visible disability.
This helps National Highways traffic officers recognise that you or a passenger may need specific assistance or more time during a vehicle breakdown. They'll always:
Ask how they can help
Listen closely to what you tell them
Be kind and patient
Not judge, and treat you with respect
On this weeks episode, Claire shares her insightful journey with the Sunflower Lanyard program and how it has positively impacted her life within the Able at NEXT community.
